Harvard-Westlake School is seeking an experienced and versatile Maintenance Technician to join our Facilities team. This is a hands-on, service-oriented role that supports the daily operations, safety, and appearance of our campuses. The successful candidate will be a team player with strong practical skills, a high degree of flexibility, and availability for significant paid overtime, including evenings and weekends.
The Maintenance Technician supports the plant operations function of the school through preventative maintenance, repairs, event support, and general facilities work. While strong technical and mechanical skills are essential, equally important is a willingness to assist wherever needed to ensure that school facilities and grounds are clean, safe, functional, and event-ready.
This role requires the ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment and to respond promptly to routine requests as well as urgent situations.
Harvard-Westlake School is a leading independent school located in Los Angeles, California, serving approximately 1,600 students in grades 7–12 across two campuses, with a third campus focused on athletics and recreation opening in Fall 2026.
With more than 300 full-time employees, hundreds of part-time and seasonal staff, and a wide range of academic, athletic, and co-curricular programs, Harvard-Westlake operates as a complex, mission-driven organization. Our facilities, operations, and administrative teams play a vital role in ensuring that the school’s campuses are safe, well-maintained, and prepared to support daily operations and major events.
We are committed to fostering a community of belonging and do not discriminate on any basis. We seek colleagues who demonstrate respect for diverse backgrounds; who can work collaboratively and independently in a fast-paced environment; and who bring professionalism, flexibility, and a strong sense of responsibility to their work.
Regular Schedule: Monday through Friday, typically 6:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. or 6:30 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. (with slight variations)
Overtime: Significant paid overtime is required beyond the regular workday, including evenings and weekends. Candidates must be available for overtime that may total 40–50 hours per month.
This is a non-exempt position. Estimated base hourly rate: $23.00 – $26.00 per hour, depending on experience.
