The Director of Stakeholder Communications leads the Minnesota State Retirement System (MSRS) communications, marketing, and stakeholder engagement strategies. They oversee the development and execution of strategic communications and marketing, including engagement and outreach efforts, media relations, and social media, to advance the agency's objectives and inform stakeholders, thereby enhancing savings outcomes for plan participants. This position leads the execution of the agency's strategic communications plan while leading initiatives outlined in the strategic plan for the Minnesota State Retirement System (MSRS) to support the agency's mission. This position consults closely with the executive director regarding media relations and acts as the liaison to external stakeholders. **Minimum Qualifications** Four (4) years of experience in communications or public relations demonstrating leadership in strategy development, messaging, and media relations. Leadership experience can include serving as a supervisor, lead worker, team lead, project lead, or participating in a formal leadership program. A bachelor's degree in Mass Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, Marketing, or a closely related field may substitute for one (1) year of experience. An advanced degree in these fields may substitute for up to eighteen (18) months of experience. Candidates meeting the above experience qualification will be further evaluated on: + Knowledge of communications planning, media relations, and project management principles and practices. + Excellent writing, editing, and verbal communication skills to craft messaging that translates technical information into clear, compelling content across a variety of communication channels for various audiences. + Knowledge of various technologies, with the ability to learn and use new communication tools, such as GovDelivery, Adobe, or other software. + Proficiency in creating, posting, and sharing creative, engaging social media content for an organization. + Ability to motivate others and work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders. **Preferred Qualifications** + Experience leading communications for a government agency, nonprofit, or mission-driven organization. + Experience advising executives or senior leaders on communications strategies and message development. + Knowledge or experience with government accessibility standards. **Additional Requirements** A written assessment or work sample may be part of the interview process.
