Controller

📍 Downingtown, PA | 💼 Full-Time | Exempt | 🕓 Onsite Role

The Balsan Group is looking for an experienced, hands-on Controller to lead our accounting operations and help drive the financial success of our growing organization. Reporting directly to the CFO , this role will oversee all accounting functions, ensure accurate and compliant financial reporting, and partner across departments to improve processes and deliver insights that support smart business decisions.

What You’ll Do

• Oversee day-to-day accounting operations including AP/AR, general ledger, and month-end close.
• Prepare and analyze financial statements and management reports in accordance with GAAP.
• Manage cash flow, banking relationships, and liquidity reporting.
• Coordinate internal and external audits to ensure full compliance.
• Implement process improvements to increase accuracy and efficiency.
• Lead, mentor, and develop a small accounting team with a hands-on approach.
• Support budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning efforts.
• Identify and mitigate financial risks while maintaining strong internal controls.
• Partner with operations and leadership to provide actionable financial insights.

What We’re Looking For
Required:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
• 8–10 years of progressive accounting experience, including management or controller-level roles
• Deep understanding of GAAP, financial reporting, and internal controls
• Hands-on experience with AP/AR, month-end close, and cash reconciliation
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills
• Proven ability to lead and mentor a team

Preferred:

• CPA or equivalent professional credential
• Master’s degree in Accounting or Finance
• Experience in public accounting or with a Big 4 firm
• Familiarity with Epicor Eclipse ERP
• Background in HVAC, construction, or distribution industries

This is a full-time, in-office position based in Downingtown, PA . The role is primarily computer and desk-based with occasional movement between departments and meetings.
